Discover the benefits of baby hammocks

The Adamo baby hammock provides comfortable and soothing motion for babies. The gentle rocking and bouncing motion it produces are beneficial for developing the baby’s balance and motor skills. Additionally, this stimulation can have an impact on their later learning of reading and writing.

The motion of the Adamo baby hammock can stimulate various brain functions, such as the vestibular system, responsible for balance and spatial orientation. As a result, baby hammocks can be valuable tools for parents to create a calm and secure environment, which can lead to better sleep and well-being, even on days when babies are teething, experiencing colic, or feeling fussy.

Thanks to its single-point attachment, the Adamo baby hammock can produce multidirectional movement, and its design allows your baby to assume a fetal position. With these combined effects, the Adamo baby hammock accurately mimics stimuli experienced in the fetal stage, providing a sense of security. Overall, using Adamo baby hammocks can have a positive impact on the baby’s physical and emotional well-being.

The Adamo baby hammocks are here to support your baby’s development! In designing them, we’ve made sure to use only the finest materials and crafted a special design that ensures both you and your baby enjoy the utmost comfort.

You won’t be disappointed with the quality of Adamo hammocks.

FAQ'S

First, choose a suspension method, which can be a hook (hook fo wooden surface, concrete hook, power hook) or a stand. Once you have chosen the right suspension for you, choose a baby hammock. The hammock’s box will contain the necessary rigging, poles, outer cover and cushion to fit inside. Once you have that, you only need to know your baby’s weight, as you should always choose a spring that is appropriate for his or her current weight. It is very important to note that the springs must be replaced every 6 months for safety reasons!

The Adamo baby hammock can be mounted in a concrete ceiling or on a wooden beam (see Accessories for swing hooks) Swing hooks are available for both types of ceiling. In good weather the hammock can be used outside and can be easily mounted on a tree branch. In this case, no special equipment is needed, the rope is simply thrown over the tree branch and secured with the carabiner attached to the end of the rope. The baby hammock cannot be mounted on plasterboard ceilings.

The first encounter with the baby hammock is a very important and defining experience for your baby. Try to time it so that the baby is not tired or hungry. The first time you take your baby on the swing, it is a good idea to show him the ADAMO hammock and tell him exactly what is going to happen. Kneel or squat down so that your upper body is at the same height as the swing, facing the swing, with the leg extension facing you. Maintain eye contact with the baby and carefully lower your baby into the hammock to the height of the swing. Be calm, radiate that good things are about to happen and laugh or smile at your baby. It is important never to rock your baby at first, but rather to lightly swing your baby. If we gradually get him used to the swing, it will be possible to rock him energetically later, but never for the first time. It is a good idea to add a spring to the swing that is appropriate for the baby’s weight and to introduce the baby to gentle up and down movements while rocking.

Once babies have got used to the baby hammock, they will be happy to fall asleep in it, as they slowly relax and fall asleep while rocking and rocking and rocking. If you want to put the baby to sleep in the baby hammock, it’s preferable to do so when they have a full tummy and are sleepy. Start rocking and springing slowly until your baby gradually relaxes. You will see this as the hands clenched into fists stretch out, the baby starts to blink a lot and slowly falls asleep under the gentle rocking. Lulling your baby to sleep in a crib helps a lot to learn about the baby’s sleep cycles (deep sleep phase) and helps to deepen the already close mother-child bond. Especially if the rocker is used not only for lullabies but also for playful bonding (singing, telling stories).

The Adamo baby hammock is safe from newborn age. It replaces the cradle and is combined with a swing. In South American countries, cradles are also used in the incubator, as rocking premature babies accelerates weight gain and keeps them balanced. Babies with tummy aches forget the uncomfortable cramps in their tummies and settle down quickly. The baby’s weight makes it sink into the fabric, and the enveloping sensation is soothing. Its little skull rests on a non-hard surface so it doesn’t press. However, it is very important to consult a professional before use if the parent discovers asymmetrical posture (the baby always turns its head in one direction or its body bends in one direction in a C shape).

It depends on the age, interest, and vestibular maturity of the baby. Some young children are very sensitive to vestibular stimulation, while others immediately enjoy and request swinging. I would rather suggest spending shorter periods of time in it more often (playing and swinging for 10-15 minutes, up to 3-4 times a day). If the baby falls asleep in it, don’t worry, nothing bad can happen. However, it is important that for crawling and older babies, their legs should be positioned outside the designated area. Always keep an eye on the little one!

In a Adamo baby hammock, the baby lies horizontally so there is no strain on the spine. When you are sitting up independently, and the baby is mature enough to sit up, you can leave it.

Yes, they can sleep in the baby hammock bed, but you should make sure they don’t get used to it exclusively. Once they’re a little bigger, they’ll want to move around, which they can’t do in the baby sleeping hammock. During the day, of course, they can nap in it multiple times. However, do not put them to sleep in it at night, as we won’t be able to watch over them properly while we sleep.

The leg section should be opened when the baby can no longer fit comfortably without it or when the baby can turn around. The legs through the holes provide a safety feature, as they prevent the baby from turning over on its stomach in the swing. Later, in a sitting position, the baby will use his legs to swing and kick independently.

Yes. If your child is doing the sit-up in the newborn baby hammock independently, it is safe to let him or her practise. Once he is tired he will be able to lean backwards, so it is not a forced position as opposed to sitting with the child on the floor.

This topic could be discussed in great detail, as many reputable sources highlight the positive effects of swinging. One important aspect to note is that a child’s balance system, located in the ear, is directly connected to their nervous system, and its development can be influenced by activities like swinging. A. J. Ayres dedicated years to researching sensory integration, which encompasses this system. She developed therapy techniques that address issues related to behavior, movement, and learning.

Using a hammock for baby, like the Adamo baby hammock, provides a gentle rocking motion that stimulates the balance system, promoting both soothing and physical coordination. A child’s balance improves as they shift out of alignment and then return to it, strengthening muscle control. During this process, the child engages specific muscles while relaxing others, which is crucial for developing coordinated movements. These early sensory experiences play a significant role in a child’s later development of motor skills, speech, and overall abilities.

Therapeutically, I would recommend rocking in all directions to stimulate the vestibular system! (up and down, left and right, back and forth, in a circle) But the idea is good, because the baby will slightly wobble off the midline when rocking left and right. A more effective way to initiate the turn is to lay on the blanket on the bed. And from this starting position, lifting the blanket on one side of the baby to roll over onto his tummy, then lifting the blanket further and rolling him back onto his back. If two of you can do gymnastics with the baby, the same blanket exercise can be further assisted by rocking the baby right and left in the blanket.

Yes. The baby hammock can be easily mounted anywhere in the home with a swing hook. The portable baby hammock’s hook can be installed in several places and as the swing can be easily unhooked, you can take it with you if you are in another room for a longer period of time.

The baby sleeping hammock can be used for children aged 0-3 years or up to 15 kg. These two criteria are met at roughly the same time. Newborn babies gain weight very quickly, but it slows down over time and, with one or two exceptions, they reach 15 kg by the age of 3. So if you don’t get the Adamo hammock sooner, it’s not too late, you will be able to use it for a long time.

The position of the rods often sparks debates among mothers and fathers.

In the beginning (during infancy), it is advisable to place the shorter rod at the bottom so that the child can see more easily from the swing and follow their mother with their eyes.

Later on, when the baby is sitting up, it becomes really important whether the shorter or longer rod is on top. To prevent accidents, the shorter rod should be positioned at the child’s shoulder height.

This decision needs to be made individually for each child to determine whether the front of the swing needs to be higher or not (Does the size of the child’s upper body require this height? Generally, no!).

Adamo always develops its baby hammock based on mums’ feedback. Most of the feedback we have received is that as the baby grows, it becomes more difficult to get the baby in and out of the hammock. With our crossbar swings this is easier and quicker to do so we recommend this version.

In all cases, make sure it is an original Adamo product! If you received a previous design (without crossbar, knotted crossbar) and the ropes were dismantled, please contact us for further instructions at info@adamo.hu. If you also received/bought a spring with it, it needs to be replaced in all cases! Since the replacement of the spring is mandatory for safety reasons every 6 months, there is a risk with a used spring that it has been in use for longer than this, and the weight classification (0-10 kg; 10-15 kg) is also uncertain. If you do not have the user manual, contact us to ensure that you use it correctly.
