For some, quickly; for others, more slowly, but another year is gradually passing again, as if it were only yesterday that we told you about Halloween party ideas. Back then, in that post, we left out something that is the heart and soul of every decent party: the food. And drinks. If you need a few last-minute ideas for a weekend party, look no further!
Over the past year or two, Halloween parties have become much more common around here. You could already find witch-themed flags and ghost balloons in stores, but this year the selection of creative decorations is truly incredible, very funny, and exceptionally abundant. They look so good, and there is so much to choose from, that you might almost throw a party just so you could decorate your house with them.
If you are among those who enjoy hosting and entertaining guests, and who take it seriously that everything at a Halloween party should be frightening, we would like to give you a few ideas so that the treats on the table reflect this too.
None of these are complicated recipes - quite the opposite... -, but one thing is certain: especially children will eat and drink them with much more enthusiasm than anything else. After all, who wouldn't want to drink water full of spiders... right?
1. Tangerine pumpkins
One of the world's simplest “recipes,” and an excellent way to make sure healthy things also end up on the party table and, afterward, in the children's stomachs. They are perfect as decorations too. All you need are peeled tangerines, with a tiny piece of celery on top, and your mini pumpkins are ready. They look good, taste delicious, and are full of vitamins - what more could you ask for at a party?
2. Ghost meringues
Making meringues seems simple, but it is relatively time-consuming because of the lengthy drying process at the end. First, prepare the meringue from egg whites - 4 - and powdered sugar - 20 dkg -, which means beating them into a stiff foam with a pinch of salt, then filling a piping bag and squeezing small mounds onto the baking tray. Place them in a preheated oven at 80 degrees and dry them for 3 hours.
Of course, this alone will not make them ghosts. For that, melt a square of chocolate and, once they have cooled, use it to draw eyes and mouths on the white base.
You can also make ghosts - much faster than this - by cutting bananas in half and adding eyes made from melted chocolate. Like the tangerines above, this is also a slightly healthier party food than pure sugar... right?
3. Mummy hot dogs
Cut a piece of puff pastry into strips and wrap it around the sausage, leaving a little more space at the top, which will be its head. If you have the time/desire, you can add eyes, but even on its own (after baking, of course) - with a little tomato sauce on top - it looks quite cheerful.
4. Spider ice cubes
How about a good spider cocktail? This “recipe” is not complicated either. All you need are a few well-cleaned plastic toy spiders, water, and an ice cube tray - that's it. Put the spiders in the ice cube tray, pour water over them, and place the tray in the freezer. Once they are ready, add them to the cocktails!
5. Pretzel spider webs
Since we are already talking about spiders... Take 5 pretzel sticks - multiply that by the number of spider webs you want to make - and melt some chocolate. Drizzle chocolate in circles over the pretzel sticks arranged in a star shape, and leave it to set. Once it no longer falls apart, your spider web is ready!
We hope we have inspired you to throw a fun little Halloween party! And if you happen not to celebrate this weekend but only in November, the world will not come crashing down. We have already been to a November Halloween party, and had just as good a time as if it had been held on the actual day. Have fun!
